Betty's feedback

First of all, thank you so much for giving us lots of useful comments before and after our speech. I am really happy to know that you enjoyed our presentation! However, there are still some spaces that we could improve. For the size of words, I'm sorry that we thought it would be fine on the big screen. For the Q&A time, I should finish my part earlier that we would have more time and we would not be so nervous. For the connection with culture, maybe we didn't explain it well. The point that we wanted to express is we might easily influenced or learned something through our daily life. As time goes by, it would transform into a part of culture, just like Disney. Due to the time limit, we didn't give you enough example to support our definition. We would be more careful next time! About how Disney affects children, we used the introduction of Disney company to highlight the extention of it. We wanted to show how large the scale is that Disney could spread it's messages. Sorry we didn't clarify our purpose. For the globalization part, as I mentioned at the beginning of value, actually Disney is doing Americanlization. In the end of Disney company, we've showed you a map that Disney has already spread to all continents. The products they want to sell to the world are the American products. Finally, I want to thank you once more. We're really appreciate of your listenings and comments. Glad you've received the ideas we wanted to present. Thank you!=)

Vicky's feedback
Thanks for your comments. I'm very glad to hear that you like our presentation. One thing I feel a little regrettable is that after we finished our presentation, we almost ran out of time, as a result we could only have little time for Q&A section, which might be too short to answer your question. Moreover, since we have time limit, we failed to talk more about the connection between Disney and our culture or issues like how Disney influence children. For my own part, I think I should have more smiles and use some meaningful gestures to make presentation more vivid. For PPT, it seems some of you think the word were too small, I have to apologize for this because we might put too many pictures in one PPT. In the process to accomplish the presentation, we read a lot and tried to make it logically so we did really learn a lot. And through your comments, we knew what we lack of and therefore we realize what we have to improve. If we have next time, I believe that we can do better. Thank you for listening and comments again.

The followings are comments from the classmates & me. To present their comments precisely, I do not change any of their wordings. Please take the comments positively. J

I. Definition of “Culture”:
Culture is what we learned from our lives and be influenced by media, environment, other people, society, education, and so on.

Disney’s globalization

a. Rationale:
Most of us started to see Disney’s films when we were children. We’ve “learned” what is love, or what is family through this way. As a result, we might be influenced by some particular social values included in Disney’s world. The value could be rapidly spread by communication. In the end, Disney becomes a kind of global culture.
b. Preview:
First of all, we’ll introduce the background of Disney and the global extension of it. Secondly, we’ll show you the stereotype appeared in Disney’s world (including the characters, plots...). Finally, hope you could introspection if Disney’s globalization is a sort of cultural colonialism.
c. Significance:
Disney’s products are around us every day, but we’re seldom aware of the messages that it conveyed to us. We should notice the “hidden” meaning behind it instead of receive it passively.
